The last years of the 19th century saw lighter, pastel colours becoming more fashionable. The present Aubusson carpet still retains the clarity of fresh original colour and the drawing of the design is particularly fine with delicate floral details.
We are fortunate in having the outer border intact as generally they have been removed or reduced due to damage.
